Tutorial 2: Discover your passion

• The main point that is brought home in the second dialogue is that the beginner blogger must not be in too great a hurry to start blogging.
• Successful blogging is a long time commitment and one should try your one’s best to choose a topic that one has a real interest in (passion for). If one is passionately interested in a topic blogging about it will be a pleasure rather than a chore. One’s readers will sense this passion and therefore be impressed to come back time and again to enjoy some of the passion.
• Many people do not immediately recognize their special skills or interests. The tutorial suggests that one should take some quiet time to do some serious introspection. The tutorial gives a list of 5 simple questions that one can ask and answer for oneself. Answering these questions thoughtfully should direct one’s attention to some, perhaps hidden, skills and interests which could form the basis of a long term blogging experience.

It should be noted that interest and passion are given greater priority than the ability to make money from a particular topic or niche. The presupposition is that one can ‘monetize’ just about any topic, but one would not necessarily be able to develop passion for just any topic.
