Tutorial 3: Stay focused
Tutorial 3: Stay focused
The third tutorial identifies some common problems that most ‘newbies’ experience when they first start investigating the money making opportunities of the Internet:
- Information overload: There are so many ‘voices’ shouting from each page that is opened. Each one has a different product that he claims will bring in stacks of money.
- High pressure sales tactics: Products are described by long sales letters with bright colors and large headlines. Special offers are made deadlines are given, all in attempt to get the newbie to take out his credit card.
- The newbie typically subscribes to just about every newsletter that is linked to a website or a particular product. This results in hundreds of e-mails on a daily basis. The sheer volume of e-mails become overwhelming and it is difficult to find the time to focus on the main task, namely to learn to blog.
- Some very practical tidbits of advice to newbies are:
- Register a second e-mail address to which you direct all e-mails relating to your sphere of interest.
- Unsubscribe from all newsletters that are not very directly contributing to your main interest.
- Don’t spend money on the spur of the moment. Anything that is really worth something will still be available some time in the future when you have had enough time to investigate it and to think about whether you really need it.
